Because of the split off from the rest of America, Palindrome has devolped its own culture. Most holidays remain quite similar to their US counterparts, but there are differences.
LOBSTER DAY: OCTOBER 11th
Lobster Day is a holiday originally made up by Palindromian fishermen in the early 1930s. Lobster day was created to support the island's fishing industry. Every Lobster Day you buy lobsters to cook and eat with your loved ones.
In October an anual "lobster fest" is usually held. You will find lobster t-shirts and hats in the shops. Restaurants will begin selling lobster ice cream or lobster coffee or lobster soup, they will put lobster flavoring in everything. Clear lobster-shaped lollipops are a common staple of the holiday. It's expected that you wear at least one lobster-themed item on the big day---lest you be pinched by the next lobster you see.
HALLOWEEN
Halloween is mostly the same in Palindrome as it is everywhere else. The fall leaves are very nice, as they are in regular Massachusetts.
